Housing

On the road in to Northtown, where the empty areas and forests start to give way in to where people once upon a time started to build cottages and small houses surrounded by their own land, several of these residences still stand, though most just barely. Their frames have started to rot, their windows have been shattered, the weight of time and perhaps even other forces has begun to weigh on them so much that they are mere shadows of former human domiciles.

Not all of them have been completely worn down, though. Be it by human intervention or mere chances, a select few remain upright and, more or less, useable. Amongst them, tucked back within trees, weeds and dead grass is an old but surprisingly sturdy Greek Revival cottage all of worn wood and chipped paint.

It ain't perfect, but for now, it's home.

Current Status:
The outside is still in a state of disrepair, and probably will be for some time. The inside remains old, peeling paint and wallpaper all over, but it's been cleaned and scrubbed down as much as one can manage with limited supplies. There's still a bit of dust in the air, and nothing is anywhere near perfectly clean, though given the condition of other places this home is actually livable.

Some one, at some point during this little cottage's history, renovated and tacked on an "old" Elizabethan style chimney and white-stone siding on to the back of the house. For some reason, though, only the upper loft area received a proper fire place. It works and the fire place has been cleaned, but the chimney proper might be in need of a chimney sweep eventually.

EVENT: A Thousand Wounds
The birds. They started out as a few, but then they multiplied. Precautions had to be taken, so the windows were boarded up with whatever materials could be found. It's not ideal, but it'll be safer from those damned ravens than anywhere outside would be.

Thanksgiving Week, November
EVENT: Release the Cluckens
This set of birds were much less violent. There was a rooster, two chickens and a turkey in the little gathering in the back yard. Luckily for them, Rin got his hands on some chicken wire, and they managed to build a little enclosure for the ones that didn't get turned in to food.

Update
The boards are still on the windows and the fireplace is being used again in an attempt to keep the cold at bay. It's not as cozy as one would like in the current weather, but it's not the hell that it would be to live outside in all that snow.
